How to Defeat Saya & Selyne at Moonflower Tower in Palworld

The Sakurajima DLC in Palworld introduced a new Pal Tower and we've cooked up a guide on how to defeat the bosses of the tower, Saya and Selyne.

The Moonflower Tower features the newest boss in Palworld. The tower was introduced in the recent Sakurajima DLC update, which featured a plethora of additional content as well, such as the Oil Rig Stronghold. The new bosses at the Moonflower Tower are Saya and Selyne, who are the toughest opponents you can face in Palworld.

Like any tower boss across the map, Saya and Selyne can be defeated, but only if you use a specific strategy. Below, we’ll go over how to find the Moonflower Tower and the best way to go about beating Saya and Selyne in Palworld.

How to Find Moonflower Tower in Palworld

The Moonflower Tower is located at the heart of Sakurajima Island. It’s found right near the center of the cherry blossom trees in the center of the island, as you can see in the map screenshot below.

When you arrive at Moonflower Tower, you can enter the boss arena by interacting with the doorway. Like all other tower bosses in Palworld, Moonflower Tower features a 10-minute time limit. If you don’t defeat Saya and Selyne within 10 minutes, the game will treat that as a death, and you’ll have to return to the tower to retrieve your belongings. The same goes for if you run out of HP and shield at the hands of Saya and Selyne.

If you’re ready to take on the Moonflower Tower, enter through the doorway and a short cutscene will play before the battle begins.

Tips for Defeating Saya and Selyne in Palworld

For starters, Selyne is a Dark and Normal-type Pal. This means that Dragon and Dark-type attacks are going to deal super effective damage against it. While you might think that a Dragon-type Pal is best for this fight, you may want to reconsider. Selyne has a couple of strong Ice-type attacks in its arsenal, which are super effective against Dragon-types.

As such, your overall best bet is to use either a Dark-type Pal or a Pal that knows Dragon-type attacks but isn’t a Dragon-type itself. Something like Frostallion or Shadowbeak are strong choices, as both can learn Dragon-type attacks and have extremely high stats. You can see how to breed some strong Pals in our best breeding combinations guide for Palworld.

Speaking of stats, Selyne is the max level 55 in Palworld. This means all of your Pals likely need to be at level 55, as does your character if you have any chance of defeating it within the 10-minute timer. Selyne also has 261,000 HP, which is an incredibly high number to whittle down within 10 minutes.

Before you head into battle with Saya and Selyne, it’s highly recommended you utilize the best weapons in Palworld. Weapons such as the Assault Rifle, Rocket Launcher, Grenade Launcher, or Gatling Gun are best suited to deal the maximum amount of damage to Selyne. Make sure you have plenty of ammo for any weapon you bring, as you’re likely going to run out throughout the battle.

Using your weapons, you want to try and aim for Selyne’s head as much as possible throughout the battle. While your Pals can deal significant damage themselves, most of the damage will have to come from your character. Aim for the head, stay mobile, and don’t get too close to Selyne when attacking or resetting your position.

Of course, when you’re not attacking Selyne, it’ll be trying to deal damage to you. To mitigate those attacks, you want to upgrade your armor and shield to their fullest extent. While it takes quite a lot of time and resources to craft, Cold Resistant Plasteel Armor is the best-in-slot armor you can equip against Selyne. This helps mitigate its Ice-type attacks and offers tremendous protection.

You also want to equip the Plasteel Helm as well as the Ultra Shield. With these items equipped, you’ll be able to fend off Selyne’s attacks for as long as possible.

Selyne’s Attacks In Palworld

Just because you have the right armor and weapons equipped doesn’t mean you’ll be able to defeat Selyne on the first go. To accomplish that, or defeat the boss at all, you need to know its attacks and how to defend yourself against them.

Selyne’s major attack is a large and bright beam that lasts for upwards of 10 seconds and follows you around. This beam can only be avoided by running away from it, so don’t try and get behind the pillars in the arena for cover. The beam deals major damage to both you and your Pals, so it’s recommended to call your Pal back to its sphere for the duration of this attack. This way, you conserve its HP for the rest of the battle.

Aside from the large beam, Selyne also uses light balls as a common attack. The dozen or so light balls start in one part of the arena and come crashing towards you over the course of several seconds. You can get behind pillars to dodge these, but you’re best off just trying to outrun them.

As aforementioned, Selyne also implements some Ice-type attacks in its repertoire to counter any Dragon-type Pals. The boss also uses Dark-type attacks, which aren’t as strong but can deal massive blows to any Normal-type Pal you send out. The Dark-type attacks are fairly easy to avoid, luckily, but the same can’t be said for the Ice-type attacks. Selyne can freeze you in a block of ice with one attack, but this attack can be avoided by staying mobile.

Palworld saya & selyne guide

When it comes down to it in the end, Saya and Selyne are just like all other bosses in Palworld. Most of the damage inflicted to them will have to come from your weapons while your Pal should serve as more of a distraction. As long as you have the right gear equipped and know what to expect from Selyne’s attacks, you have the best chance to defeat it. Doing so might require a few attempts, but following our guide should allow you to defeat Saya and Selyne fairly quickly in Palworld.
