Here's how to find and capture the Legendary Pokémon Mesprit while you traverse the Sinnoh region.
There's no shortage of unique Pokémon to capture while out and about in the Sinnoh region of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. One such is the legendary Pokémon Mesprit, part of the Gen 2 Lake Guardians trio. This group includes Uxie and Azelf as well, two additional Pokémon that you can track down on your way to "catchin' 'em all." The three monsters are Emotion, Knowledge, and Willpower, important for Pokémon trainers. Do you agree?
If you're ready to track down Mesprit, you can do that after you finish all of your business at Mt. Coronet first. You'll want to have either Dialga or Palkia, depending on which version of the game you've completed. If you meet those requirements, read on. You'll be the proud owner of a Mesprit very, very soon.
How to catch Mesprit
1. Go to Verity Lakefront - Inside Verity Cavern
Mesprit hangs around near the Verity Lakefront, inside Verity Cavern, which you can find to the left of Route 201. You may remember this area as the place you first received your starter Pokémon at the beginning of the game. Once there, use the HM move Surf to head out into the water. Enter the cavern in the middle of it: Verity Cavern.
Once inside, you'll find Mesprit, hanging around, until you approach it. You won't be able to catch Mesprit here, unfortunately, as it will simply run away. Bummer! But you have to head here first if you want to eventually be able to capture it. Luckily, you don't have to just wander around aimlessly.
2. Head to Jubilife City
Your next move is to head out to Jubilife City (fly there if you can), and find the President of the Pokétch Company. You should have enough Gym Badges by now that he'll give you the Marking Map app for your very own personal Pokétch. This will allow you to track Pokémon that wander around the map all over Sinnoh.
3. Track Mesprit on your Pokétch
From then on, you'll have to track Mesprit on your Pokétch and head to the places you find the Pokémon has landed. From here, it's up to you to find it and go to the location it's currently found at. It can be a grueling, frustrating grind both to find Mesprit, as well as capturing it once you do find it. But once you have captured it, you'll have a formidable addition to your Pokémon team. If you accidentally knock it out, you'll need to defeat the Elite Four again for it to come back. Use False Swipe to keep Mesprit awake instead of defeating it, so you don't have to battle the Elite Four again.
Keep trying, because the most difficult part of nabbing a Mesprit isn't fighting it, but tracking it down. Unfortunately, that's one thing we can't help with definitively. Luckily, you have a way to track it, and it's all up to you from there. Happy Mesprit hunting!
