Frequently Asked Questions

Does the microphone have to be vertical?

You can freely rotate the microphone in 360 degrees, as long as it's facing you.

How do I turn off the LED indicators?

You can either turn them off using SteelSeries Engine in the Alias configuration. You may also hold down the mute button for 2 seconds to turn them off. Turn them on using the same method.

An "X" for mute will always display regardless of this setting. You can adjust the brightness of the mute indicator in Engine.

Is it okay to see the yellow indicator while speaking?

Yes; the yellow indicator is completely acceptable. It informs you that you're at the top of what your sound level should be. If you see red, turn down the microphone gain or position yourself slightly further from the microphone until it only reaches the yellow indicator.

Any tips for setting it up with a boom arm adapter?

When inserting the thumbscrew into the boom arm adapter, note a small groove on the inner ring of the thumbscrew. Align it with a notch that's on the inner part of the boom adapter. Rotate the thumbscrew until it lines up.

Refer to the included Product Information Guide for additional instruction.

How do I setup the Alias in Sonar for Streamers software?

This is the default setup for Alias in the Sonar for Streamers Software:

PERSONAL MIX
Speakers (SteelSeries Alias)

STREAM MIX
SteelSeries Sonar - Stream (SteelSeries Sonar Virtual Audio Device)

MIC INPUT
Microphone (SteelSeries Alias)

How can I hear sidetone?

In order to hear sidetone (your voice in real time), you need a wired connection. Plug in a wired headset and connect it to the Alias via a 3.5mm cable.
