How to Use RGB Notifications with League of Legends

League players rejoice! We're so excited to add League of Legends to our roster of supported GameSense titles, so you can enjoy reactive RGB and more!

What is GameSense?

Unlike your teammates, your SteelSeries gear can celebrate your pentakill.

Simply put, GameSense allows your SteelSeries gear to react to in-game (and out-of-game) events with illumination effects, OLED screen info, and haptic feedback. Depending on what gear you have, this can mean lighting up when your mic is active in Discord, vibrating when your game starts, displaying your system info, and more.

You can find all GameSense titles and other apps and customizations in the newest version of SteelSeries Engine.

League of Legends RGB notifications

Customize any of your SteelSeries RGB products with color-changing lighting effects that coincide with in-game events:

Baron and Dragon timers, plus plenty of other illumination options can be customized:

EventDescription
GoldChanges color depending on how much money the player currently has
HealthChanges color depending on how much health the player currently has
ManaChanges color depending on how much mana/energy the player currently has
Game StartedInforms the player that the game has started
DeadChanges color depending on whether the player is currently alive or dead
Teammates AliveIlluminated bar that displays the current number of teammates alive
Enemies AliveIlluminated bar that displays the current number of enemies alive
Creep ScoreChanges color depending on how many creeps the player has landed the last hit on
Dragon Spawn TimerChanges color depending on how long until Dragon spawns or respawns
Baron Spawn TimerChanges color depending on how long until Baron spawns or respawns
Baron Buff TimerChanges color depending on how long the buff received from killing Baron lasts
KillsChanges color depending on how many kills the player has
AssistsChanges color depending on how many assists the player has
DeathsChanges color depending on how many times the player has died

Edit one key, or a group of keys to represent whatever stats you need.

Baron timer setting in SteelSeries Engine Here is the standard League of Legends layout, with the function keys representing your health bar, and number keys representing mana.

All keys customized with a health-based RGB display in SteelSeries Engine Seeing your health bar turn from green to yellow to red in your peripheral vision can be lifesaving during a hectic teamfight. In my case, I like to set up board-wide health notifications so it's impossible to miss. You can customize the colors to work for you though - maybe you prefer your health to fade from teal to black to match your setup, etc.

The Apex 3 has 10 pre-set RGB zones that you can customize, while the Apex 5, Apex 7, and Apex Pro keyboards have per-key customization. SteelSeries RGB headsets, RGB mice, and RGB mousepads all work too!

League of Legends OLED notifications

The OLED (and RGB) lets you know that Dragon is about to spawn!

GameSense also displays customizable infomation on any of your SteelSeries products with an OLED display. These products include:

EventDescription
Game StartedInforms the player that the game has started
TimersShows timers for Dragon and Baron respawn
Dragon KilledInforms the player that Dragon has been killed. May also include the name of the player that got the kill
Baron KilledInforms the player that Baron has been killed. May also include the name of the player that got the kill

League of Legends tactile notifications

GameSense can also use tactile notifications (vibrations) to alert you about the game starting, dragon spawns, and more. The products that have tactile notifications include:

EventDescription
Game StartedInforms the player that the game has started
Dragon SpawnInforms the player that Dragon is spawning soon / has spawned
Baron SpawnInforms the player that Baron is spawning soon / has spawned
Dragon KilledInforms the player that Dragon has been killed
Baron KilledInforms the player that Baron has been killed

Where to find League customization

You can enable, disable, and customize all GameSense titles and apps in SteelSeries Engine under "Apps". Make sure you're on version 3.18 or later.

Supported programs in SteelSeries Engine including League of Legends

This is where you can toggle the feature on or off, and fully customize any of your compatible gear to function in League.

System monitor

Whether or not you're playing League, your OLED can also display your CPU and GPU load and other system infomation that you might want to quickly check without having to tab out of your game.

Apex keyboard OLED screen displaying CPU percentage

GameSense will show relevant game info during events like when you die, but will toggle back to showing your system info if you have both enabled in SteelSeries Engine.

Discord

Another helpful app with GameSense integration is Discord! Use your OLED display to see who is talking, or have an RGB light up when you or someone else is transmitting audio.

Speaking of Discord, feel free to join the official SteelSeries Discord to connect with us and other League players!

We hope that these convenient features help you out in League of Legends. Update to the latest version of SteelSeries Engine to start customizing!
