Dota 2 Champs OG Are the Highest Paid Esports Players of All Time

Within the last decade, competitive gaming wasn't much of a career option at all much less one that could make you a millionaire.

And yet, that's exactly what OG has done for themselves. In August, OG made history in not one, but a number of ways. They became the first team ever to win The International (TI) two years in a row. Prior to 2019, no player had won two Internationals, and yet all five of OG's team made it happen. In fact, out of all the previous winners of TI, no team has ever returned to the competition the following year with the exact same roster and even managed to make the top three.

Pulling off this amazing feat set yet another record, too - all five members of OG are now the highest paid esports players. In the world. Ever.

According to Esports Earnings, a site that compiles records from across the internet, the top earning players of all time are:

  1. Johan "N0tail" Sundstein: $6,890,591.79
  2. Jesse "JerAx" Vainikka: $6,470,000.02
  3. Anathan "ana" Pham: $6,000,411.96
  4. Sébastien "Ceb" Debs: $5,489,233.01
  5. Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen: $5,414,446.17

Figures are as of January 7, 2020

As reported by Forbes, all five OG players were the highest paid in 2019.

Looking at the ranking of highest paid esports players, it's easy to see that Dota 2 is the most lucrative title to play in. There are a few Fortnite players thrown in there, too, but nothing beats Dota 2 fans in terms of support through viewership and crowdfunding! There's no wonder this year's TI prize pool reached a whopping $34M!

Of the $34,330,069 total prize pool, champs OG took home $15,620,181.00.

It comes to show that a solid team can do anything. Congratulations, OG! SteelSeries is SO proud to be your sponsor!
